CGU Insurance: Tall Poppy
Creative Agency: Thinkerbell
The new short film, Tall Poppy, was an initiative of Heckler alongside Thinkerbell via CGU Insurance. The initiative heroes CGU’s support of small business to drive growth and ideation despite ‘tall poppy’ adversity, an Australian cultural phenomenon where success is marginalized. The Jim Henson Company was engaged to create ‘tall poppy’ the ambitious puppet who featured on a 3D billboard in Melbourne’s Bourke St. Heckler was the first Australian VFX & Post Production Studio to bring this type of 3D Billboard to life. As they joined the largest cities in the world (Paris, Shanghai, New York, Madrid and Tokyo) to display this campaign via a 3D advertising campaign.

On Running: Black Ice
Production Company: Hungry Man (UK)
Responsible for Post Production and Sound, Heckler collaborated with Hungry man and Award-winning Australian filmmaker Richard Bullock, to produce ‘Black Ice’ for Swiss sport brand On Running. Andrew Holmes, Heckler, was the Lead Editor on this project, responsible for piecing together the vision to create this powerful short film.
Released in January 2022 in the wake of the Winter Olympics, Black Ice is the inspiring story of Ghanian Akwasi Frimpong, Africa’s first Olympic Skeleton racer. The athlete’s determination in the face of adversity is a portrayal of Akwasi’s journey, presented as a chronology of his life from his formative years to the present day.
The film was written and directed by Bullock, and tells the story of Akwasi, who from humble beginnings becomes a formidable athlete with ambitions to participate in the Olympics. Ultimately he contracts Covid and is unable to partake but his story is one of resilience, courage and the strength of the human spirit.
